Meet Our School Committee

Laurie Twomey

Laurie has served on the Dedham School Committee since 2023 and was elected in 2024. A Dedham resident since 2007, she and her husband are raising two children in Dedham Public Schools. With more than 20 years of leadership development experience at organizations including PwC, Oracle, Cigna, and IDC, Laurie is passionate about learning, growth, and student success. She is committed to ensuring every student has the foundation, support, and opportunities to thrive.

Anthony Rodriguez

Anthony is an architectural designer with nearly a decade of experience specializing in educational facilities and affordable housing. A Dedham resident since 2020, he brings expertise in planning, cost analysis, and inclusive design to support student success and strong school communities. Anthony is committed to safe, modern learning environments, transparent communication, and ensuring every student has access to the resources and opportunities needed to thrive.

Chris Polito

Chris is a lifelong Dedham resident and proud graduate of Dedham Public Schools. Elected to the School Committee in 2021 and now serving his second term, he is committed to transparency, communication, and responsible stewardship of district resources. Drawing on his experience with the Dedham Board of Assessors and his knowledge of local government and finance, Chris brings valuable perspective to policy and budget decisions that support students, families, and the community.

Dr. Leah Flynn Gallant

Leah brings 25 years of higher education leadership experience to the School Committee, with expertise in leadership development and diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. A Dedham resident since 2016 and parent of a student in Dedham Public Schools, she is committed to fostering inclusive learning environments, strengthening family-school partnerships, and ensuring all students have the support, resources, and opportunities needed to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Joshua Langmead

Josh brings more than 20 years of experience as an early childhood educator to the Dedham School Committee. A Dedham resident since 2012 and parent of two students in Dedham Public Schools, he is committed to fostering inclusive, collaborative learning environments where all students can thrive. Drawing on his classroom and instructional leadership experience, Josh focuses on balancing current student needs with the district’s long-term goals and success.

Rick Michalka

Rick brings more than 15 years of experience teaching mathematics and physics in public secondary schools. He holds a Master’s in Education from UMass Boston and has previously served as a Dedham Town Meeting Member. A Dedham resident since 2016 and parent of two students in Dedham Public Schools, Rick He believes student success depends on dedicated teachers, research-informed curriculum and instruction, and learning environments that are safe, adaptable, and designed for 21st century learning.
