District Update on COVID-19 Testing
VOLUNTARY TESTING TO BEGIN FOR FACULTY, STAFF, AND STUDENTS
In our continued efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19, especially in our classrooms, Dedham Public Schools was approved just before February vacation to participate in a statewide program now being offered to provide pooled COVID-19 testing for all faculty, staff and students. Pooled testing makes it easier and faster to find individuals who might have COVID-19. Pooled testing also helps ensure a smooth system that does not interrupt teaching and learning; we can test entire classes at once in a short period of time to minimize interruptions to classroom learning time.
Voluntary testing will be gradually rolled out across the district over the next few weeks, beginning this week with the Greenlodge Elementary School (Grades 1 & 5 only) and the DELTA PreSchool Program within Dedham High School . By starting with these two learning environments, we hope to gain valuable perspective and understanding about how the testing process can be most successful in our district. This will also allow us to gather student, staff and parent feedback, and pave the way for a successful implementation in all our schools.
