TREK: Reading Teacher

The primary role of the reading teachers for the TREK program is to facilitate the required summer reading work, while fostering an appreciation for age-appropriate literary works. TREK reading teachers carefully select a novel that challenges our avid readers, yet are comprehensible for our more reluctant learners. We have little to no prior background knowledge of each student’s reading level and academic capabilities, so we are careful to choose novels that can be tailored to meet the needs of each student’s reading level. Reading teachers will engage the students in extension activities related to the novel, which may include writing prompts and discussions.
