TREK Math Teacher
The role of the math teachers for TREK is to provide students with the instructional support they need to successfully complete their summer math requirement. During the TREK sessions, the TREK math teachers teach groups, each containing approximately 20 students. Typically, there are one or two high school students (who were selected as TREK assistants) helping out during each class. Students enter TREK with a range of math knowledge and skills; therefore, the extent of instruction and support that TREK math teachers provide is based on the needs of each student. Students work independently on the summer math packet, completing the topics at their own pace, while TREK math teachers assist students on an individual basis by answering specific questions and providing instruction or review of concepts and skills.
