DMS Honors and Celebrates Veterans

On Thursday, November 10th, students at Dedham Middle School spent the day honoring and learning about Veterans Day, understanding the ways in which we pay tribute to those in our military service, past and present.

Students were welcomed to Homeroom in the morning with a Bugle Call.

In civics classes, students at DMS found connections to the veterans of our town and the numerous memorial sites in Dedham. Within steps of our building, students learned about the Peace Statue and the John Barnes Memorial.

Bullentin boards across the school honored and celebrated Veterans Day.  The students and staff particularly honored their own Veteran, Mr. Kevin Leonard.

Mr Leonard also shared his insights and experiences with students helping prepare a  presentation and recorded speech shared in classes during the day.

Concluding the day at DMS, students learned about the history and significance of Taps. Thank you to Mr. Martins for starting and ending our day with music.
