Welcome! Dr. Sara Stetson - Appointed Assistant Superintendent for Student Services

Dedham Public Schools announced the appointment of Dr. Sara Stetson as the Dedham Public Schools Assistant Superintendent for Student Services, effective July 1, 2022.

Sara was the consensus top choice from a talented field of candidates during her finalist interviews and site visit.  Her many years as an Assistant Superintendent of Student Services (Andover Public Schools), Director of Pupil Personnel Services and Special Education Director (Hampton, NH), and Department Head/Psychologist (Merrimack, NH) give her the experience and perspective to be an outstanding, confident leader in our district.  Her wide ranging leadership in Special Education and mental health compliment the extensive work she has done in district program development and parent engagement.

Dr. Stetson has been teaching graduate level courses in school psychology and special education/learning disabilities as a faculty member of Rivier University for the past 20 years.  She is currently completing a certificate program in Educational Equity, Racial Understanding, and Organizational Transformation at William James College.  We are thrilled that Sara will be able to work with DPS Special Education Director Liza O’Connell in the next few months to coordinate a smooth transition and entry into our district.

We would like to thank the seventeen members of the Interviewing Committee (listed below) for their many hours of effort in screening candidates and selecting finalists for this important position. They reviewed a very strong pool of applicants and scheduled interviews with eight candidates before narrowing the field to four finalists.  These four finalists each spent a full day in Dedham meeting with faculty and staff, visiting classrooms, chatting with parents, and interviewing with other principals and central office leaders.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Sara Stetson to the Dedham Public Schools community!
