  • Class of 2023 Honored at Superintendent’s Academic Recognition Dinner

    On Monday, May 22nd, Dedham hosted its annual Superintendent’s Academic Recognition Dinner at the MIT Endicott House.  The dinner celebrates the top 30 distinguished scholars of the Class of 2023 in recognition of their sustained academic achievement.

  • DHS Woodshop Students Share Creative Projects with ECEC

    Students from Dedham High's "Design, Prototype, and Entrepreneurship WoodTechnology 3" class shared some of their creations with ECEC students in Ms Castagnolas' class.   The Wood 3 class created wooden Hippos, a Dollhouse, Monster trucks and a Monster Truck Garage for the students to enjoy in their play areas.

  • Dedham Nutrition Director Named Northeast Region Director of the Year

    Congratulations to Jeanne Johnson, Dedham's school nutrition director who was recognized by the national, non-profit School Nutrition Association (SNA) recognized for her many positive changes to the school nutrition program in Dedham.

  • Spotlight on History: DMS Grade 7 Hosts Exhibit at Town Hall

    On April 27th, seventh grade students from DMS invited the public to the opening night of their Asiant Influence & Culture Experience exhibit at Dedham Town Hall. This exhibit, which is a culminating exhibition of student learning from the Investigating History pilot on Central, South, and East Asia  will be showcased for 3 weeks at Dedham Town Hall, from April 27 - May 19th.

  • Principal for the day at Greenlodge.

    Throughout the last week of April, Greenlodge Principal McGowan hosted five students serving as principal for the day. These young leaders shadowed Principal McGowan throughout the day spending time learning all about what it means to be a principal.

  • Spotlight on Arts: Dedham at All State Treble Chorus

    Five of our Dedham elementary students successfully auditioned, then were selected to participate in the Massachusetts Music Educators Association's All State Treble Chorus Festival on Saturday, April 29 at the Oak Middle School in Shrewsbury.

  • Dedham Public Schools Earns National Distinction for its Student Data Privacy Practices

    Dedham Public Schools has earned the Trusted Learning Environment (TLE) Seal from the national technology’s director’s association (CoSN).  The TLE Seal is a national distinction that recognizes schools for their commitment and proficiency in protecting student data.   Dedham Public Schools is currently the only school district in the nine North Atlantic states to have earned this seal, which has been awarded to only two dozen school districts around the country.

  • Science Spotlight: Congrats to our Elementary Science Fair participants!

    On March 30, Grade 3-5 students from across the district participated in the Elementary Science Fair at the Greenlodge Elementary School. This year more than 60 projects were shared in which students explored their own interests in Physical, Life, and Earth Sciences as they engaged in scientific inquiry.

  • Spotlight Inclusion: A week of inclusion at ECEC

    During the week of March 20th the Early Childhood Education Center in Dedham successfully celebrated a week of inclusion in their “Spread the Word Inclusion” campaign.  Students participated in a number of activities that focused on inclusion, empathy and acceptance while also learning new words like disabilities and Down’s Syndrome.

  • Life Skills Spotlight: CPR Training for 100 Seniors

    Dedham High School collaborated with Coastal Medical Transport Systems in Dedham to provide CPR and First Aid training to nearly 100 Dedham High School seniors.  The training was designed to provide DHS students with skills beyond the classroom.

    District FY2024 Operating Budget Request

    The FY2024 DPS Operating budget was presented to the Dedham Town Finance and Warrant Committee in March. Fiscal 2024 presents significant budgeting challenges for the School Department and the community. Extraordinary increases in utilities and other fixed operating costs represent increases beyond the control of the District and the Town. Given these increases, the FY24 budget request required the DPS administrative team and the Budget Subcommittee to carefully weigh priorities and develop a plan for fiscal resources that ensures all students continue to receive a high quality learning experience in school facilities that are safe, welcoming, and provisioned for an engaging educational environment.

  • Civics Spotlight: Town Government Day

    On March 22, Dedham Town Hall welcomed a group of students from DHS as part of Town Government Day.   This annual spring event, which was reinstated this year following a break due to the pandemic, has been a favorite part of the civics curriculum, introducing students to their local government processes, departments and operations.

  • Arts Spotlight: Dedham 5th Graders Welcome Local Artist

    The month of March is National Youth Art Month and in celebration, the Dedham Public Schools Visual Arts Department invited a local artist to spend the week with Dedham 5th graders for an artist in residence program.
