  • Spotlight on History: DMS Grade 7 Hosts Exhibit at Town Hall

    On April 27th, seventh grade students from DMS invited the public to the opening night of their Asiant Influence & Culture Experience exhibit at Dedham Town Hall. This exhibit, which is a culminating exhibition of student learning from the Investigating History pilot on Central, South, and East Asia  will be showcased for 3 weeks at Dedham Town Hall, from April 27 - May 19th.

  • Dedham Public Schools Earns National Distinction for its Student Data Privacy Practices

    Dedham Public Schools has earned the Trusted Learning Environment (TLE) Seal from the national technology’s director’s association (CoSN).  The TLE Seal is a national distinction that recognizes schools for their commitment and proficiency in protecting student data.   Dedham Public Schools is currently the only school district in the nine North Atlantic states to have earned this seal, which has been awarded to only two dozen school districts around the country.

    District FY2024 Operating Budget Request

    The FY2024 DPS Operating budget was presented to the Dedham Town Finance and Warrant Committee in March. Fiscal 2024 presents significant budgeting challenges for the School Department and the community. Extraordinary increases in utilities and other fixed operating costs represent increases beyond the control of the District and the Town. Given these increases, the FY24 budget request required the DPS administrative team and the Budget Subcommittee to carefully weigh priorities and develop a plan for fiscal resources that ensures all students continue to receive a high quality learning experience in school facilities that are safe, welcoming, and provisioned for an engaging educational environment.

  • NEW SUPERINTENDENT CHOSEN FOR DEDHAM PUBLIC SCHOOLS

    The Dedham School Committee voted on Wednesday evening to name Nan Murphy as Dedham’s next Superintendent of Schools.  Ms. Murphy comes to Dedham from Marblehead Public Schools, where she is currently the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.   Ms. Murphy was selected in a unanimous vote by school committee members, who emphasized her commitment to collaborative leadership, student-centric approach, and experience building culturally inclusive school communities as critical skills that would greatly benefit Dedham students and faculty.

    At the Wednesday, November 17th Dedham School Committee meeting, the Committee voted unanimously to approve a contract for Dr. Ian Kelly to become the Interim Superintendent from December 23, 2022 through June 30, 2023.

  • News Release: DEDHAM STUDENTS AND STAFF RETURN TO SCHOOLS FOR 2022/23 ACADEMIC YEAR

    Dedham Public Schools welcomed 2600 students in grades 1-12 back on Wednesday, September 7th for the start of the 2022-23 school year.  Dedham’s littlest learners in Kindergarten and Pre-K will be returning over the coming days.  As staff returned for an opening day welcome event last Thursday, September 1, they were encouraged to explore ways in which they could each make student learning even more of a priority.
