DHS students who received a 50 or higher in a course and/or have earned a 50% for two terms during the academic year are eligible for Credit Recovery over the summer. An outline of requirements and course calendar is available here. Registration for Credit Recovery is open until June 26th.
The HS counselors worked hard on developing new slides for juniors and their families, specific to the post-secondary and college process. These are pre-recorded with each counselor's voice guiding students/parents through the information.
Today - June 25th - the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education released its Initial Fall School Reopening Guidance. This work is based upon the current available research available at this time, and this guidance will be updated in late July. Wednesday evening the Dedham School Committee approved a revised FY21 School budget proposal. The revisions incorporated guidance provided by the Town, which requested a $500,000 reduction from the original proposal approved by the School Committee on January 29, 2020, in order to accommodate anticipated shortfalls resulting from the current pandemic crisis. The revised FY21 proposed budget request is now $42,576,992. Learn more here!
To support the social and emotional wellbeing of teens, Boston University Wheelock College of Education and Human Development created a self-guided course designed for middle and high school students. This is a fantastic resource for teens to learn about stress and coping mechanisms in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. It will be available throughout the summer for students and parents/caregivers to access. Please check it out!
Dedham Public Schools joined 150 districts around Massachusetts in awarding a State Seal of Biliteracy distinction on Dedham High School diplomas this year. The Seal is awarded to students that demonstrate proficiency in two languages; English and one other language. Thirteen graduates in the Dedham High Class of 2020 earned the Seal of Biliteracy on their diplomas, two of those graduates earned a Seal with Distinction. Learn More Here.
The Dedham Public Schools Department of Fine and Performing Arts is proud to present this year’s annual District Art Show in a virtual format. The beautiful work of many of our students PK-12 is now featured on school and district websites for the next three weeks. While we cannot celebrate this creative representation of Dedham culture and community in person, the Art teachers are proud to display their students’ work online for all to enjoy!
