Student Registration

Dedham Public Schools feature seven neighborhood schools - five elementary, one middle school and one high school - all led by veteran educators who care deeply about students and their development as scholars and citizens.

With over 2,500 students enrolled, Dedham Public Schools is dedicated to the mission of promoting excellence in learning, self-discipline and motivation.  With the support and guidance of over 600 employees, students are encouraged to celebrate differences and be a positive part of the global community. 

Any child who is currently residing in Dedham may enroll in Dedham Public Schools at any time throughout the year.All new/returning student registrations must be completed online in our PowerSchool portal.

Early Learning - Welcome to Kindergarten!

Kindergarten in Dedham is a tuition-free, full day program at the Thomas J. Curran Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC).   Children must be 5 years old by August 31 of the year participating in order to register for Kindergarten.

Dedham Public Schools does offer an IEP-eligible Preschool program at the ECEC with some fee-based availability offered each year.     

Proof of Residency Requirements

Two forms of documentation are required as Proof of Residency.  Applications must include one of the following:

  • If you own your home- A current property tax bill and current utility bill in your name
  • If you rent- A copy of the current lease and a current utility bill in your name
  • If you reside with family due to economic hardship- A notarized letter from the Town Clerk’s office at Town Hall that you live at the current address, a current bill in your name (example- utility bill, cell phone bill, excise tax bill) and the current homeowner’s property tax bill

Before You Register:

Use this checklist as your guide, as it is best to gather all the required documents BEFORE you begin.

  • Photo ID or Drivers License for Parent/Guardian
  • 2 Proofs of Residence in Dedham
  • 1 Proof of Birth
  • Physical Exam and Immunization Records
  • Transcript/Student Records from Previous School (*required Grades 6-12)
