    5:00 - 7:00 pm

    GREENLODGE ELEMENTARY GYMNASIUM  NEW LOCATION!

Set Up: March 29 at 4:00pm

How Do I Participate?

  • Are you a 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade student in Dedham who..

    • likes learning about how stuff works?

    • is interested in understanding why things happen in nature?

    • has thought "Wow, that's cool!" when learning something new about science?

To participate in the science fair you need to be in either 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade. You can work on your own or with someone in the same grade to design a project, but either way you need to submit a proposal sheet with parental permission by the deadline below.

Then, on the day of the fair, approved projects will be shared with the community and science fair judges. All students who participate in the science fair will receive a certificate to recognize this achievement. Our science fair judges will also decide which projects qualify for special recognition and honors.

    • Step 1:   Decide on your project idea and submit your permission slip / project proposal form by March 3, 2023.
    • Step 2:   Work through your project, record your process and data, explore your topic in more detail, and describe what you've learned relative to your original hypothesis.
    • Step 3:   Present your work!  At the science fair you’ll present your project on a regular or trifold poster board. If you wish, you can have a model to show some aspects of your project, but this still must be explained in the poster presentation.

You can find all kinds of helpful tips, resources, worksheets and links from this page to help you through the process  - check out the Planning Your Project page for more information!  Also, be sure to review the safety guidelines!
