Process

1.  Which member of the First Continental Congress would you like to be?  Select a name from the First Continental Congress Members list and be sure to write this at the top of your "Chapter Concept Map".

2.  As a member of the First Continental Congress, you must choose one of the following acts or events to research and present your findings to the Continental Congress.

  1. The Proclamation Line of 1763
  2. The Stamp Act
  3. The Townshend Act
  4. The Boston Mass
  5. The Boston Tea Party

3.  Download a copy of the "Chapter Concept Map"and print three copies.Using a time line (timeline1 or timeline2) identify the event that happened prior to your event and the event that happened as a result of your event.  In the top space provided on each of the "Chapter Concept Map", fill in the event that happened prior to your event, the event itself, and then the event that happened as a result of your event. Be sure to write the exact dates of these events when you take notes using the Chapter Concept Maps provided.

4.   Using the "Chapter Concept Maps", take notes on the three events you are researching.  the notes for each event (the event that caused your event, the event itself, and the event that occurred as a result of your event) will each be on a separate "Chapter Concept Map".

5).  Download the "Series of Events Chain" graphic organizer and print two copies.  Using your notes from the Chapter Concept Map,  complete the sequencing of events.  You should use one "Series of Events Chain" graphic organizer for the causes of your event, and the second "Series of Events Chain" for the actual event and outcome of that event.  Pay close attention to the focus correction areas.  When completed; self-edit, peer edit, and write the final two paragraph essay. Be sure to download the writing rubric to help you in your editing work.

6).  Design a posterboard highlighting the causes and effects of the event.  You may use this posterboard to aid you in the presentation.

7). Present your findings to the First Continental Congress.  Download the presentation rubric for evaluation on your presentation.
