Solar System Web Quest

Congratulations!

Your group has been selected to compete for a free trip to any two spots in our solar system.

The Super Sonic Airline is looking for competent students to create a brochure for perspective travelers.  This brochure must give information about two planets which will make travelers want to visit there.

Task

Your group will need to visit the websites listed below.

You will need to gather information about all of the planets.

You will need to decide which two planets your brochure will cover.

You will need to create a brochure in Microsoft Publisher.

Your team will present your brochure to the rest of the class.

Process:

Have a discussion with your group and organize which planets each member will investigate.

Discuss and decide upon which planets will be presented in your brochure.
Print the content rubric to continue your investigation of the two planets your group has chosen.
Print the brochure template and fill in all the needed information. Click here for a Publisher document version.
Create a brochure using Microsoft Publisher.
Use the Grading Rubric to make sure you have completed all of the necessary information.
Present your brochure to the class.

Teacher Pages

The grade level of this Web Quest is for third grade.  The objective of this Web Quest is to gain knowledge of the solar system and develop reading comprehension of factual text.  This Web Quest is designed to be followed in the order it is presented.  The students will learn to work cooperatively to develop a brochure using the Microsoft Publisher program.  The students will give a presentation to the rest of the class on the information they gained.  The students are offered a variety of games to play after they have finished their brochure.  These games may be played in any order and are listed in the Upper Level Activities section.
