This is a browsable and sortable list of poetry acquisitions during school years 2004-2008, with selected older titles added.It will be updated automatically on the Library catalog under the categories tab “Poetry—New and High Interest.”

Further material can be found by doing an author, subject, or keyword search of the catalog. You will find poetry by these authors, as well as biographical and critical material.

Use the "Browse by Author" feature to access your author; scroll down the page to access the "Related Information" box for links to biographies, literary criticism, poetry by the author, reference material, pictures and more.
If you need critical information about a specific work use the "Browse by Title" feature.

To search for a biography of a specific poet, bullet "Start of Last Name." Type last name FIRST in the search box. Click tabs to move from reference book material to magazines or web sites. Click over citations retrieved to open to full-text.
Use the TABS to move between result types: the "Biographies" tab contains full-text excerpts from reference sources; there are often web site suggestions and periodical articles under the "Websites" and ""Magazine Articles" tabs.

Provides critical essays on contemporary authors and their works. "Contemporary" sometimes includes authors who are no longer alive, such as Truman Capote, who died in the 1980s.
In this database, the last result is usually best! Look for the subtitle: "A brief review of the author's life, works, and critical reception."
Search for an author in "first name last name" order or "last name" only.

The focus is on scholarly journals, but the database includes general interest titles as well. Once you have search results, you may want to view "Narrow Results" to refine your results by article type or subject. Article types include critical essays, editorials, interviews, and more.
This database is a good place to look for literary criticism: try typing in the title you are studying in quotes; when the results come back, see "Narrow Results" and select "Critical Essay."
