Good evening, this is Holli Armstrong calling to remind you that we will be celebrating Halloween at Oakdale School tomorrow. Students in Grades 1 and 2 are encouraged to bring in their Halloween costumes in clearly marked bags. It would also be very helpful if you could label your child's costume as well. Students in grades 3-5 are encouraged to wear black and orange. We will be having our annual Halloween Parade for where first and second grade students parade around the back field in their costumes. Parents are more than welcome to attend the parade which will begin promptly at 1:30. Wishing you a happy and safe Halloween weekend. Thank you.

Good Evening, this is Clare Sullivan, Principal of the Avery School.
The School System is in the very preliminary planning stages for the new building. Although we are very early into the planning, we would like to get a sense of how many parents will be dropping off their children in the morning and picking them up after school in vehicles on a daily basis. We will continue to solicit more information as we get closer to the completion of the project, but would like to get preliminary information now. If you know you will definitely be dropping your child off before school and picking your child up right after school in a vehicle daily, please send in a note, email me at csullivan@dedham.k12.ma.us or call the school at 781-326-5354 tonight or tomorrow morning. Good evening. This is Jacob Santamaria, Principal of Dedham High School, calling on behalf of Dedham Youth Basketball. Sign-ups for the 2010-2011 season are now being conducted on the DYB website at www.dedhamyouth basket.org until Monday, November 15, 2010. Children in Grades K - 9 are eligible to participate. The season opens on December 4, 2010. Dedham Youth Basketball is a nonprofit organization. See you the courts.

Good evening Oakdale families. This is Principal Holli Armstrong calling with a few very important announcements. I would like to remind you that this Thursday, October 21st is our First Grade/New Family Mingle. This wonderful PTO sponsored event, begins at 6:00 pm in the Oakdale School Library. We hope that many of you can join us for appetizers and punch as you get to chat with the other First Grade and new parents. If you are planning on attending, please RSVP to Kim Lynch. Immediately following the mingle at 7:00 in the gymnasium there will be a very informative presentation entitled 'What to Expect at Oakdale School. Coffee and dessert will be served. This presentation is for ALL Oakdale parents! We are hoping to assist in informing all parents of students in all grades in understanding what goes on at Oakdale on a day to day basis. Finally, the deadline for art work for the Art Works fundraiser in Monday, October 25th. There is still plenty of time to get your art work in. Good Evening, this is Doris Claypool, Principal of Riverdale School. Today all students in grades one to five received a Student Progress Report. This is part of a district plan in each elementary school to provide information about your child's progress in English Language Arts, math and homework. After you have discussed the report with your child, please send it back to school signed by a parent. The reports should be returned to the classroom teacher by October 20th. Good evening Oakdale Families this is Principal Holli Armstrong calling with a few important annoucements. I would like to remind that this month's PTO meeting will be held tomorrow morning, Friday, October 15th, at 8:45 in the Oakdale School gymnasium. We hoping by changing the time, we will get more parents who will be able to attend. Along with the regular business meeting, I will be reviewing our Spring 2010 MCAS scores. All Yankee Candle orders should be returned to Oakdale by tomorrow. Student Artwork, order forms and catalogues for the Art Works project was sent home via backpacks today. These pictures can be turned into wonderful gifts which will arrive with plenty of time for the holidays. Finally, there has been an increase in the number of dogs on school property. Please be reminded that dogs are not allowed on school property. We have many students who are allergic or frightened by dogs. Please adhere to this law to ensure the safety of all students. Tomorrow evening we invite parents of students with last names beginning with the letters A-K to meet with teachers, guidance counselors and administrators. Please know that the design of the evening does not allow for lengthy conversations and that if you need to speak about your student at greater length with a teacher you should contact our guidance secretary at 781-326-6900 to set up a team meeting. As several parents do attend these evenings, your courtesy and consideration towards others who may be waiting is sincerely appreciated. Please keep in mind that our second Parent Night will be on Tuesday evening, October 19 for parents of students with the last names beginning with the letters L-Z. Hello this is Jessica Hammond, Principal of the Curran Early Childhood Education Center.This is a reminder that our annual Open House will take place tonight, Tuesday, October 12 at 6:30 pm.This is a great way to become familiar with the staff and have an opportunity to meet your child's teacher and hear about the curriculum. We are asking all kindergarten parents to enter through the gymnasium door and all preschool parents to enter through the front door. The PTO will also hold the first meeting of the year tonight following the Open House. I hope to see you here!

Dedham High School's first Open House will be held on Tuesday, October 12, 2010. All parents/guardians are invited to opening remarks in the cafeteria beginning at 6:30 p.m. Parents will then pick up schedules in their child's x-block at 6:50 p.m.(Parents should ask their child for their x-block teachers name and room) A mock schedule will then allow parents to meet our staff in a classroom setting and gain an understanding of our courses, content, expectations and requirements. During the evening parents may sign up for individual conferences that will take place on Wednesday, October 27. If parents so choose, they may call the DHS main office @781-326-4773 between 8:00 a.m. and noon from Thursday, October 21, through Monday, October 25.

Good evening Oakdale School, this is principal Holli Armstrong calling with a few reminders. First reminder is that tomorrow, October 5th is an early release day. Dismissal is at 12:00 noon. Lunch will not be served. Secondly, we will be participating in the National Walk to School program in conjunction with the Safe Routes to school. We will have our Kick off on Thursday, October 7th. We have decided to change the date from Wednesday to Thursday due to the forecast of rainy and windy weather on Wednesday. Thursday, October 7th is also our annual fall picture day by Lifetouch. Please remember to send in your order form for fall pictures. Finally, our first grade field trip to Honeypot Hill was postponed from last Friday, to this Friday, October 8th. Good evening ECEC families. This is Jessica Hammond, Principal of the Dr. Thomas J. Curran Early Childhood Education Center. This is a reminder that tomorrow, Tuesday, October 5 is an early release day. All morning preschool students will be dismissed at 11:15 as usual. All morning and full day kindergarten students will be dismissed at 11:20 am. There will NOT be afternoon preschool or kindergarten classes. Teachers will be attending professional development.Although all kindergarten students are dismissed at 11:20, we need to wait until the buses drop off the High School and Middle School students. Therefore, bus students will not leave the Curran Center until 11:55. Please plan accordingly to meet your child at their bus stop or your child will be returned to the Curran Center. If you choose to pick up your child at the school at 11:20 please inform your child's teacher.

This is also a reminder that we will hold our Open House and first PTO meeting on Tuesday the 12th at 6:30. I hope to see you here.
